Words cannot describe my gratitude for Dr. Tanja Nuhsbaum and Dr. Tammy Michau and everyone at Apex Ophthalmology and Apex Dentistry. My dog had a horrible eye infection and she completely stumped our family veterinarian as well as two ER facilities. Dr. Tanja Nuhsbaum and Dr. Tammy Michau had to perform orbital exploratory surgery which lasted well past typical office hours. While my dog’s case was still a bit of a mystery, I know they did absolutely everything they could to solve it. They explained everything to me in great detail. Everyone on the team helped me understand how to take care of Clementine at home. Nobody rushed me out the door in fact, they gave me hugs and helped me feel as comfortable as possible while my dog was in distress. Everyone seemed as worried about my dog as me, which translated to the best care team ever! Clementine is on the mend and I’m forever grateful. Every single person at both locations (ophthalmology and dentistry) were kind, professional and helpful beyond words.

If I could give the Apex Ophthalmology Team 10 stars instead of only 5 I would, because they are just that good! When my little 6 year old dog Maggie was diagnosed with cataracts in February of 2025, I felt so frightened. She was still so young! The thought of her living her remaining years with blindness felt so disheartening. I am so glad I chose Apex to help us!

During our consultation Dr Gearhart carefully explained everything, step by step. She inspired my confidence and trust by her knowledge and her likeable personality. Dr. Gearhart performed the surgery to remove the cataracts in March, and I must say that she is a professional in every sense of the word. It is clear that she is skilled and has a deep understanding of her patient's (and the owner's) needs. Dr. Gearhart was thorough, and always explained the process and the procedures carefully. I never felt rushed. I always felt comfortable asking questions or asking her to repeat something if I wasn't clear on the directions for Maggie's care. When Maggie developed a minor complication post-surgery, the doctor explained in detail what was happening and what we needed to do. I love that Dr. Gearhart is encouraging and compassionate. She is always so kind to Maggie (and also to me!). I must also complement Esther, the vet tech who is Dr. Gearhart's side kick. Esther is everything you could ask for in a vet tech and much more! She is extremely skilled, helpful, and went out of her way to assist us. She was so good with Maggie. Esther always made us feel so welcome.

Maggie's surgery has been highly successful. Her sight has been restored and her eye pressure is normal. We are happy campers! Thank you, Dr. Gearhart and Esther!
