What happens during an ocular exam for a dog or cat?
Each new patient undergoes a thorough and non-invasive comprehensive ocular exam to asses baseline ocular health. Examples of tests include a Schirmer Tear Test (STT), Fluorescein Dye Test, and Intraocular Pressure Test (IOP).
The STT measures ocular tear production.
The Flourescein Dye Test evaluates tear film, cornea, lacrimal system, and eyelid integrity.
The IOP Test measures intraocular pressure using rebound, or applanation tonometry.
